Episode 2 is here of Ottawa’s first serial improvised comedy show!

Every first Wednesday of the Month GRIMprov! will present another episode of GRIMsville. So join us in GRIMsville, a mysterious northern Canadian town where literally anything can happen, (remember, it’s improv) such as reoccurring characters, special guest, strange twists and unexpected plots! (Again it’s completely improvised).

With Special Guest, Colin GIlles from Elgin St Improv!

Show starts at 8pm but wait, there’s more. Opening for Grimprov this Wednesday is a new improv troupe in town: T.R.E.V.O.R! So make sure you are there early to get the best seats. Show is $5!

GRIMprov presents: Role call

Next Wednesday September 30th is right around the corner and that means another great show coming up.

The first half will be our renowned random and roly-poly Cul-de-Sac  followed by a brand new lab. This week’s lab will the Role Call. Combining our periodic element improv with a casting director. YOU! pick the roles , make the rules and watch.

All this happens at the The Cock & Lion Pub (202 Sparks Street) at 8pm! The show is $5 dollars at the door.

Next Workshop This Wednesday Sept23rd

GRIMprov presents another workshop open to all skill levels part of our monthly improv drop-in workshop series. Next up we will be finishing up on “saving a scene” from last month’s workshop and then focusing on and learning more on “long form character development”. How can your characters make a difference in the overall narrative? Best way of connecting characters, and how to change their importance? So if you’re new to the art form or you’ve done basic but want to learn more come on down. No registration, drop. Learn, drink! Play.

Wednesday September 23rd, (workshops are typical on the 2nd last Wednesday of the month)

He’s Back, & Coming Soon

In GRIMprov News:  the triumphant return of Toronto Improv superstar Jordan Moffatt to the GRIMprov stage. After being a pinnacle part in the creation of GRIMprov Mr. Jordan Moffatt returns to the Ottawa stage. You may remember him from some GRIMprovisations as “Homeward Bound,” and “GRIMprov Saves Christmas.” You can also see him performing with Crush improv.

With our alumni from another “mum-ni” back we have been cooking up something new for dinner.  What will the future hold? Something never before seen in the Ottawa theatre scene. Stay tooned.

Longform Workshop: Saving a Scene!

As requested by the attendees at GRIMprov’s last workshop, this week’s workshop theme will be about how to manage a scene gone wrong! Come work on skills to save a show going south, find what scenes work and learn when it is time to let go and watch it die!

The workshop takes place next Wednesday August 19th at 8pm! It takes place at the The Cock & Lion Pub (202 Sparks) and is $10.

Grimprov’s very own robot Drew McFadyen will be leading the charge so come hone your craft with this intermediate to expert rated workshop !
